Wow – we can beat the worst.
August 5th, 2004What a surprise…
The O’s actually beat a team they should have beaten – 3 times in a row. The hapless Seattle Mariners were swept by the Birds. However, the rejoicing is tepid at best – the Mariners have been swept 9 times this season.
As an Orioles fan, I have come to know on some level the pain of a Red Sox fan, but I think Red Sox fans have it easier these days – at least their team is in the running for the playoffs. Not so for us (18 games behind the Yankee$ in the standings – about the same place we have been for the last 6 years). My hope for this season is to somehow reach the .500 mark (have not been there since ’97). The O’s are 49 and 57, so they really need to put some winning streaks together to make .500.

Hey, beating a team when they are down is easy, especially when they used to have A-rod, used to have Griffey, jr.and used to have – the list is endless. They’d be a better team if Seattle didn’t trade all the good players away. Then the O’s would be a big trouble. They played very well this week, I’ll give your O’s that, tho’ my heart is pure Mariner.
